Duckweed Control

Duckweed is very common in garden ponds and however much effort you put into removing it, it will grow again incredibly quickly. Ecopond Duckweed Control contains a specialist bacterial culture which removes nutrients key to the growth of the most common duckweed (lemna minor). Once most of the existing weed has been manually removed, treating with Duckweed Control will inhibit its return.  Duckweed Control will not harm fish, wildlife or other plant life in the pond.

Duckweed Control is best applied in Spring as soon as duckweed growth is seen.  However, the pond water temperature needs to have reached 8 degrees to ensure effective microbial activity. It can also be used successfully right through the summer and early autumn (whilst temperature remains at a minimum 8-10 degrees).  This prevents the formation of spores which otherwise lead to further duckweed growth the following Spring.

Use Duckweed Control in conjunction with Ecopond Mud Muncher to further enhance it’s effectiveness in controlling duckweed in garden ponds.
